Christmas Tree Tradition

Anna is finally getting old enough to where we need to begin some family traditions around Christmas time. When I was little, my grandparents (Mom-Mom and Dad-Dad) made a ceramic tree for myself, my brother, and a larger one for my parents. These trees have holes drilled into them into which you place little colored plastic bulbs and they work sort of like night lights. They're absolutely gorgeous and they really add to the Christmas decor. For the past several years Kim and I have put the lights in the tree ourselves, but from this year forward, we're going to let Anna join in the action.

We set down at the table and pulled out the lights one morning and went to town getting all the holes filled. Anna had an absolute blast. She knows the word "star" and before we even put any lights into the tree she was begging to put the star on it. We told her she couldn't put the star on top until all of the other lights were placed into their spots. This made her work even faster and harder, and when it was all said and done, she got her reward. She had the biggest smile on her face as she placed the pinkish star on top of that tree. We'll now get to enjoy that tree throughout the holiday season and this tradition will continue for years to come I'm sure.
